Lakewood Photography, LLC is partnering with Emily McNeal, Miss Texas (NAM Preteen Division), in a school supply drive for CCISD children. Emily loves volunteering, crafts, reading mythology and fantasy novels, singing, playing the ukulele and being on stage participating in musical theatre and scholarship pageants
With a passion for volunteerism, Emily founded a group called Be a Fire Starter – Volunteer. The goal of BAFSV is to create volunteer opportunities for kids and their parents so that every member of a family can contribute together. Emily hopes BAFSV encourages kids and adults that volunteering is easy to do. Emily wants to challenge kids as well as adults to think about ways to help others and be a doer. There are multiple ways to be involved in your community. Emily has embraced what John Kennedy said once, “One person can make a difference and everyone should try.”
Under Emily’s leadership, BASFV organized four volunteer opportunities in which kids could get involved during the 2013-2014 school year. She and her team made blankets for kids at Texas Children’s Hospital as well as rainbow loom bracelets and Valentine’s Day cards. They also collected canned goods while trick or treating to benefit McWhirter Elementary. League City Animal Shelter benefited from her pet supply drive.
Emily and Lakewood are accepting any and all new school supplies for area children from now through August 17th. Please see lists (here and here) for examples of what our children need for their success. Donate a new backpack with all the supplies for one student (any grade) and Lakewood will gift you with our back to school mini-session ($89 value) or a $50 credit to any other studio service (expiry 9/15/14).
You can drop your donation at Lakewood Photography at 1010A E. Main Street, League City, TX 77573 if you don’t see Emily set up around League City. Please call the studio at 281.554.9700 for more information.
